Sawyer is pretty good at falling down and getting right back up again. No crybabies here!

Yes, I took a lot of pictures the Ohio State day. He is getting so fancy with his mobility. Everyday he gets a little closer to crawling on all fours.

On the move

Under the table

I'm going over there.

I know, I'm cute.

So close to crawling.

Just a little more practice needed.

More pictures from our Ohio State day. Sawyer will wear a hat and not really realize it until I fool with it. Then he realizes that it would be more fun to eat it than wear it. Thanks again Grandpa D.

Wait a minute. What is this on my head?

Oh, it is the hat from Grandpa Doernberg.

Hum...now how do I get it back on my head?

Sure, I see.

So much better in my mouth.

Sawyer has been growing like crazy the past few weeks. All of a sudden he has outgrown a lot of his clothes that have looked, in our eyes, like they would not fit for a while. He received so many wonderful things when he was born, and even though we have tried things on him periodically, he has really surprised us by his growth.

I have tried to take pictures of all of these wonderful gifts, so the givers could see Sawyer in them. This post packs in three of those items. His hat, which was a gift from his Grandpa Bob, came with the outfit seen in the previous ode to Ohio State. The onesie was a gift from Janet, a close family friend of Grandma Penny. The jeans were a gift from Great Aunt Jenny, and the Ohio State towels and light up buggies were gifts from Grandma Penny and Grandpa Steve.

Another Buckeye Day

The teeth are growing in.

Another Buckeye Day

Not Levi’s, but still cute.

Just kickin' it.

Sawyer is sending out a special shout out to Janet…it is not exactly a shout, more of a, well I’ll let you come up with a word for it… Janet, whenever you need a really good laugh, these two videos will do the trick!

I was up early and hanging out with Sawyer the other morning while he slithered all around the downstairs floor. By now, we all know his fondness for the coffee table (see the third video), so it’s not a big surprise to see him going back for more, but he’s never been able to pull himself up like this:

Luckily the camera was close by so I was able to share with Abby and you — can you hear his teeth grinding on the table? Since then, he has not been able to duplicate this feet, but not for lack of effort. He must have been especially limber that morning.

Abby pointed out that all of clothes are starting to wear down at the elbows and knees. He’s certainly very active, even more so since we cleaned and baby-proofed the downstairs — he’s no longer confined to the bed or blanket anymore.

What record you may ask? Well, he tried to see how many different toys he could put in his mouth in 15 minutes. He was teething like crazy the other day as you will see by all the drool on the front of his shirt. Thank you Grandma Penny for the new outfit.

It all started off so innocently. There was the ring.

The ring

Look Mom, no hands!

Then he got all flashy. “Look Mom, no hands!”

Look Mom, no hands!

Then he added the block.

The ring and the block.

This is his favorite block. He loves to suck on the tag. Scott says he’s label conscious just like his parents.

because it has the tag.

Then came the keys.

Now the keys.

More keys

Then back to the ring and other things.

The teething ring.

Yep, he tried to fit the entire ball in his mouth.

I'm pretty sure I can fit the entire ball in my mouth.

Then the nubby ball.

Nubby ball.

Then the duckie with pacifier next in line.

Oh, and the duckie.

Almost but not quite finished. He loves to bite on the bug’s wings.

The bug went in his mouth too.

Finally, he ended up with the old standby.

Works as a drum too.

All done. Ten toys in 15 minutes. The tambourine made the cut too, just no picture.

Left behind.

He’s been there many times before, but this was the first time he sat in the cart instead of his buggy or having me wear him in a sling. He really seemed to enjoy the view. I placed a little blanket in front of him to keep him from trying to lick the handle (preemptive strategy, I could just see it coming), and my bag behind him to give a little extra support.

Brrrr, it is cold in the aisle…

Sawyer in the grocery cart

…but it is still fun to be here.

So inquisitive.

No story here, I just really like this picture. We were having lunch with Scott in South Park. I love Scott’s seven minute commute. It makes it so easy to go spend time with him.

Sawyer crawls in South Park

Another visit to South Park and some fun on the swings. I think it will become very apparent why we sometimes call him Wiggles.

After much discussion — remember the poll and results — Abby and I finally agreed to get Sawyer’s hair cut. It wasn’t an easy decision, but after seeing the pictures in the tub from last time, we realized it’s long overdue.

I had my hair cut first this morning, while Sawyer finished up his nap. When he woke up, Abby brought him down to watch me, then have his rooster do quickly trimmed. It certainly wasn’t easy holding him still, and Susan even said it was the most difficult haircut she’s ever done, but two minutes later he was a brand new man (baby). He didn’t even cry or make a fuss, in fact he may not have even noticed what was going on!

He was so excited when he sat down in front of the big mirror (the cape was a short-lived experiment):

Sawyer B C N U Sharp!

I had to put him in a bear hold just to hold him still:

Sawyer B C N U Sharp!

Then Abby gave him the camera case to play with:

Sawyer B C N U Sharp!

And that was just enough of a distraction to get it done:

Sawyer B C N U Sharp!

Last but not least, here’s the video. Before:

During and after:

btw, CNU Sharp was the name of a barber shop in Columbus that we passed on the way to Crew games. My dad always loved the name, we all did come to think of it, and it was the first thought in my mind when I saw Sawyer’s new look. I hope you agree he does look sharp, and sleek, and even more aerodynamic than before, which is just what we needed.
