Saturday, we went to the beautiful De Young Museum in Golden Gate Park to see the Chihuly exhibit. No strollers were allowed in the exhibit, so it was a bit of a wiggly time. Sawyer seemed impressed at times, at other times he was more interested in our admittance stickers.
At one point, the sculptures are on a glass ceiling above us. This caught Sawyer’s attention…
…and mine.
What we were looking at.
The grand finale.
Sawyer was ready to crawl around at the end.
These four videos are an excellent illustration of a typical a morning with Sawyer:
I hope he knows how important this morning is: I get to watch my beloved Buckeyes in just over an hour. Nothing like a 9am kickoff to start the weekend off right!
I’m not sure what that mission is, but he’s on it.
Can you see me?
Nope. I’m stealthy.
I’ve got my moose. Thanks Uncle Kevin and Aunt Sarah!
Moosie Moose only looks warm and cuddly. He’s tough too.
Yes, I see.
Planning my next move.
Just checking to see if I’m being watched.
You only think you’ve caught me.
I look so innocent.
Yes, I am camo-cute, but I am tough too.
Taddy is my cover…literally.
Thanks Great Aunt Sally and Uncle Jack for the camo. We love it!
We were hoping for a quiet night after his bath on Saturday night, but Sawyer had other ideas. I’m not entirely sure why, but he always has to play with the strap that hangs from the camera. I was too tired to fight him, and far too amused with the noises he was making:
That’s three and a half minutes of Sawyer’s new antics. The bed was soaked too. I have no idea how to spell what he’s saying, but I’m open to suggestions if you have any. Sarah? Kevin? Michael? Matthew?
Maybe next time.
With the move, we were not able to properly celebrate Sawyer’s eight month birthday on the blog. He has achieved so much in the past month in the mobility category — going from his soldier crawl, to sitting up, to pulling himself up on the furniture, to crawling on all fours. It all happened within days.
He also says “Ma, Ma, Mom, Mama-Ma” and “Da, Da, Daaaaah”. He woke us up with “Mama n’ Dada” the other morning. Babycenter.com says they really don’t have a connection to what the words mean exactly, but Sawyer seems to be pretty emphatic when he uses them.
Seems like the perfect time to revisit our old friend, Woggy, which is what we called him before he was officially the Sawyer we all know and love. This ultrasound picture was from a year ago — 8.21.07:
And here he is now:
Sawyer had a corner in our old apartment that we affectionately called Sawyerland. He was never really able to explore it until right before moved, for one he wasn’t as mobile then and two it wasn’t as easily accessible. That all changed when we moved into our new apartment.
Abby is so unbelievably talented at arranging things to look right visually and work well functionally, and Sawyerland 2.0 has to be the happiest place I’ve ever seen:
Oh, and the Sawyer monsters (see parts one and two of that saga to refresh your memory) have finally arrived!
There are books and his favorite art cards in boxes on the ground (Sawyer pulls all of this stuff out first):
And more books on the bottom shelf:
And stuffed animals on the second shelf:
I think he likes it here:
He can sit and play for hours at a time:
Sawyer looks somewhat tame in these pictures, but that’s all a thing of the past. Every morning he goes in there and pulls almost everything off the shelves, spreads his art cards out, and drags out of the rest of toys too. And every night Abby and I put it all back together for him.
Thanks to Abby’s Uncle Mark and Aunt Kelly for Sawyer’s shirt, he looks so good in it. Very excited to have you out for a visit at the end of September!
This is just a taste of Sawyer’s fascination with the view from our new apartment. He’s just tall enough to see over the ledge but he can’t see the street, which is all that really matters to him, so I hold him up to the window. Me, I’d rather look at the sky and the buildings, but he’ll grow to like those too.
That big brick building is the headquarters for The Gap. Google has an office right around the corner too. That’s why my new favorite Taco Truck sits right outside our front door. More on that soon. =)
