Here is a four minute snippet of how Sawyer and I spend our time during the day. He never stops moving or babbling in his own little language.
What do we love almost as much as monkeys? Robots! I found the coolest wall decorations for Sawyer’s room. He was so excited when he saw the package that we put them up immediately!
Sawyerland just keeps getting better and better!
I don’t think I am the only one who looks forward to his bath, our little Sawyer monster loves it more and more every time. It’s always one of the last things we do together, just after dinner and right before bed. It’s a perfect way to wind down his day.
The other night he was especially playful, gnawing on his toothbrush, and splashing all around. I’m not sure if his hair had anything to do with it, but he was absolutely beaming:
Like everything else he touches, the toothbrush went straight into his mouth. Too bad he couldn’t get it in the right way, but it gives us something to work on in the coming months. Here’s hoping he’ll have some more teeth by then too!
So far, Sawyer has learned to say “up” and know what it means. He says it when he pulls himself up or when he over the safety gate in his door. I have tried for several days to record this but with no success. In the videos below, even though he doesn’t say the words out loud, he does seem to be mouthing them.
Sawyer loves his books. Especially the one with the person wearing glasses. He is always trying to steal ours. A friend of Scott’s told us a story about monkeys in Indonesia who are trained to steal glasses and run away. I think Sawyer was one of these in a former life.
Thanks for the shirt Aunt Sally and Uncle Jack!
A big thank you goes out to my mom for sending Sawyer some new toys. The wrapping paper mesmerized him as soon as he saw it!
The matching of his outfit was completely an accident. The shirt was a gift from Grandma Penny.
You know he had to try at least one.
Here is the video of him “opening” the box. He makes quick work of it. He manages to push through the top of the box. His birthday and Christmas will be a lot of fun.
As you saw from the video, there was a great book of first words, with a cat on the front, of course. Another toy has little beads that change color.
This one has knobs that twist and click.
Thank you Thinker Toys in Bath. We will visit you in December.
I don’t think there is a person who loves the sea lions at Pier 39 more than Kevin. Scott and I had intentionally not taken Sawyer to see them until Kevin visited. I’m not sure how Kevin was able to make it through two days before visiting them. Luckily, there were more sea lions than we’ve seen there before, so Kevin was very, very happy.
It’s sea lion time!!!
You honestly have know idea how smelly the sea lions are in person - especially on a very hot day. It takes your breath away.
Sawyer was trying to act like a sea lion.
The strings on Kevin’s sweatshirt were much more interesting.
“Kevin, it is really, really stinky. I know stink, and this is worse than my best effort!”
Abby had an appointment this afternoon, so I came home to have lunch with Sawyer. After he devoured his meal of a mozzarella cheese stick and “Sweet Potato Cinnamon Bisque Soup with Chicken,” we went downstairs for a little exercise.
I have always wanted to take him down there, as it’s wide open with plenty of room to move around, and I figured it would be fun for him to go more than ten feet without stopping to turn around. He was definitely distracted by all of the things around him, especially the two people on treadmills, but I think he enjoyed it. Here he is at the tail end of his first lap around the loop:
Last night, Sawyer briefly stood up on his own, without any help from us. Of course since then he’s been unable to duplicate his feat, largely due to the fact that he never stops moving!
