He’s really teething, as Abby says in the video below he’s going from four to eight teeth almost over night. Also, note how he asks for his bottle, I believe it’s almost the same indecipherable string of sounds that he used in yesterday’s video:
Look at that belly! He doesn’t miss many any meals!
A few weeks ago, Sawyer and I went to Sausalito for some fun in the sun. I found a grassy area to let him run around in, which he seemed to enjoy, although he kept trying to escape. He also chased pigeons and ate ice cream in this park, and by “ate” I mean he mostly just smeared it all over his face. No video of that unfortunately.
You’ll hear the word he uses for the bottle about half-way through the video. I never realized how often he says it, and believe it or not it’s almost always the same group of sounds:
I have no idea how to spell that. Do you?
Today I was having the carpet cleaned in Sawyer’s room. Sawyer decided at the beginning of the week, I think due to having two new teeth on the bottom coming in, that every time he had a mouthful of milk, he would just let it fall out of his mouth. What a mess. Scott pulled everything out of his room. Sawyer found new ways to play.
While we were waiting for the carpet to dry, we went to Yerba Buena Park, which is about 8 long blocks away. While Ohio was digging out from many inches of ice and snow, but we were enjoying a beautiful day. January is usually very rainy, so I am enjoying any day that Sawyer and I can spend outside. His new shoes, size 6 1/2, have mini cleats that help him grip.
Literally a second later, a little guy came whooshing down the slide. I swooped up Sawyer just in time. Then that same little boy asked me if he could borrow Sawyer’s truck. Watch what happens when I leave Sawyer on his own for a few seconds.
He has to touch every wheel on every stroller he sees!
He is getting really good at figuring out how to get down from places. This made me really happy to see.
Then they brought out hula hoops and balls.
He’s pretty much running in this one.
It’s a happy day for Scott and I. Sawyer can now get his own snacks and drinks by himself with minimal mess. His little snack cups hold in the food. A small bit escapes every now and again, but he does a clean up sweep after the fact. The sippy has been a few slow months in coming, but I think he has finally gotten the hang of it.
The rain finally let up this past weekend, not that it was ever really all that bad just non-stop, so Abby and I took Sawyer over to The Embarcadero to let him run around for a bit. Nothing wears him out like a good solid half-hour of fun watching birds, looking at boats in the bay, ooohing at bicycles, pointing at dogs, and smiling at people.
We had no sooner crossed the street when Sawyer took off on his green grasshopper:
I can’t believe he stopped just before ramming into the concrete barrier. Can you tell how much he loves the bay?
This is the first time he’s self-propelled his grasshopper, I have a feeling we’ll be hard-pressed to keep up with him very soon:
Sawyer loves that little park, especially since the trains go by every few minutes, he’s always turning his head to look for them. He usually gets to pet a dog or two, but there weren’t any friendly ones out that day. Better luck next time, I’m sure.
And doesn’t he look great in the sweater my Grandmother, his GG, bought and the hat Abby made for him!
btw, I had an MRI done on my right foot last week and my doctor immediately put me in an aircast to prevent my plantar fascia from snapping. That’s why the videos are so jumpy — each step on my booted right foot shakes the camera in my right hand. I’m getting better at walking with it, and I’ll take more care when moving with the camera next time. =)
Not to mention loud. When he’s done eating, his new thing is to pull his bib off:
And so goes breakfast with baby Hercules. What will he think of next?
Sawyer and I met up with a playgroup friend after swim the other day. We had a great day by the bay at Crissy Field.
These pictures are just over two weeks old, so I can’t recall exactly what he was eating, but it looks like some kind of pasta for the main course then a little chocolate for desert. He was near the end of his meal when I started taking these pictures, so the food was gone but his sign language video was still playing.
I really had to win over his attention:
Once I got him laughing he was all mine!
His teeth are the sharpest things on earth, no wonder teething was such a pain:
Okay, fun’s over:
We were finally able to get artwork other than the awesome robots up in Sawyerland this past weekend. Uncle Michael photographed a wonderful picture of Sawyer last march. It is now framed and up on the wall.
Next I got Aunt Sarah’s Christmas present painting for Sawyer framed and up on the wall too.
It is next to two framed pieces of Sawyer’s artwork from our painting day.
Sawyerland just keeps getting better and better! Sawyer has found a new use for his tunnel. When it is tied up, he uses it as his new recliner.
Sometimes he actually wears himself out. If only that meant he were ready for bed.
Nope, not tired yet!
