Last Saturday, Abby and I took Sawyer to the California Academy of the Sciences, Unfortunately, we weren’t the only ones with this idea. It is always jam packed on the weekends, and even with our membership it’s sometimes tough to get in, but I really wanted to go.

Once inside, we went right to the penguin exhibit. I worked my way up to the glass with Sawyer so he had a good view. I know he’s grown, but I hadn’t realized how much. Last time he was well beneath the water line, this time he was head and shoulders above it (to be fair, they were cleaning the tank so maybe there was less water, but still). There’s only one good shriek at the beginning, but I was able to get a close up of his expressions as the penguins swim by:

It was very hot and way over-crowded so we decided to run over to the de Young Museum for lunch. Afterward, we went upstairs to see the Yves Saint Laurent exhibit. The exhibit was far too tempting to Sawyer’s mischievous nature, so he and I went and explored the Africa collection while Abby took in the YSL collection. We met up with her at the end and went to see some more of the permanent collection (fascinating stuff, really, I had no idea it was so extensive).

Sawyer was getting antsy, so Abby let him down to burn off what little energy he had left. This is how he did it:

He’s been doing more of an Axl Rose dance when he walks, but this time he added the clapping with it. While these aren’t the best videos of Sawyer, they give a pretty good idea of what life is like with the little guy. He’s always attentive, always moving, and always having a good time!
