I know Grasshoppering isn’t really a word, but what would you call it?
We went to the zoo today and discovered that there was a playground. Scott taught Sawyer his favorite thing to do on the swings — pretend you’re Superman.
These days, Sawyer can’t decide if he needs just one nap or two. It is around this age that toddlers move to one nap a day. Somedays he can make it, others not so much. Today he just had a 20 minute nap in the car after the zoo. He had no interest in napping when we got home. He gets very loud and very crazy when he needs sleep. Get ready Ohio, he climbs non-stop!
In case you missed it, yesterday’s post had all of the pictures from Sawyer’s first big Buckeye experience. Here are the videos of the same event.
Sawyer gets ready for his meeting with Dr. Gee (he never once messed with his bow tie):
He was drawn to he band at first, but quickly became more interested in the cheerleaders and their pompoms, until a motorcycle sped by at the end (those trump all else):
He was fascinated by Brutus most of all:
He’s pointing to Brutus on the stairs. You have no idea how loud it was there, it was tough to talk before the band walked in as everyone was watching the basketball games, but the band sent it over the edge. Sawyer never complained once:
He’s getting really good at stairs now too, here’s Sawyer climbing the ones that lead to the courtyard in our apartment building:
Again, I can’t thank Abby enough for helping me pull this off. She had Sawyer looking sharp, took such great pictures and videos, and made the whole thing look easy. It wasn’t. I am so happy we were able to do this with Sawyer, and even happier that we could share it with you!
See you all in less than a week!!
When Abby and I moved out here almost five years ago, my only real worry was making sure I didn’t miss a single Ohio State football game. I was fortunate to find the Bay Area Buckeyes Alumni group, and even happier to learn that they met to watch the games just a block from our old apartment. That worked well for the first few years, but Sawyer made sitting in a bar for three plus hours a little more difficult. Thankfully there’s pay-per-view.
Though I no longer meet up with the group as often, I remain on their email list and always keep an eye out for their special events. I was thrilled when I saw that Dr. Gee was going to be here, and almost bought myself a new bow tie for the occasion, but I think you’ll like what I did even better.
Sawyer was so excited:
Sawyer meets Dr. Gee:
Yep, bow ties! Sawyer’s look was a big hit with everyone, but Dr. Gee liked it most:
And his first corn dog:
To top it all off, Brutus was there too! Sawyer loved him:
Although I’m not sure he knew what to think of him:
It was a beautiful night so instead of taking the train we walked back home:
Sawyer’s bow tie made everyone who passed smile from ear-to-ear:
As Abby said, “No stopping any time” is Sawyer’s new motto:
He walked about half of the way home, which was more than enough to wear him out:
But still cute as can be:
Thank you for the great pictures, Abby!
Tune in Saturday to see the video. Turns out the women’s basketball team plays in Palo Alto tomorrow night so the cheerleaders and pep band were in town too! Sawyer loved every minute of it.
Sawyer loves the song, “Old MacDonald has a Farm”. Scott has been practicing singing “e,i,e,i,o”. He’s getting close.
Sawyer loves his book, “Count the Birdies.” I think he is trying to read it to Scott in this video. He was very talkative this weekend!
I really don’t know what inspired Sawyer to start sticking his fingers in his ears. I need to watch the sign language video a little better, because he seems to do this about half way through the video.
He doesn’t do the sign for “more” quite right, but the sign looks sort of like clapping so I know what he means.
Sawyer is getting really good at his puzzles. He may not exactly know how to put the pieces in the puzzle, but he knows what almost all of the pieces are.
He did this puzzle before I started the video, and got them all right. This time he was just a bit tired. I just gave him this puzzle for the first time today.
Sawyer shows off his baby belly. We say gross at the end, because we really, really need to sweep under the couch. It gets so “crumby” in such a short amount of time.
We let Sawyer run around with the camera again. We turned it off so he couldn’t delete the films. He figured out how to turn it on, and then he took his own video! Here is his directorial debut.
I sucked my thumb until I was almost in kindergarden. Scott sucked his two fingers until at least three years old. The binky drives us crazy. I think it really helps the teething, so guess it will stay until the his 20 teeth all make it in. Oh yeah, he likes to wear his sunglasses again.
He’s on some sort of mission.
Just to remember how small he was when he last wanted to wear glasses.
I find him like this all day long.
I think he likes to be tall.
Talking to his Grandma Doernberg on the phone.
Sawyer likes to sleep with all of his friends.
He tucks in his feet exactly like I (Abby) do when he is sleeping. He must not like having his feet cold either. Now we always put socks on him when he naps. I had to wake him up for swimming last week. He wasn’t happy about it. Go figure, Scott and I aren’t happy when he wakes us up every morning at 6 am either!
Bed head.
