I think there’s a picture of these steps somewhere on the blog, but after 523 posts I can’t keep anything straight. Can’t wait for baby number two to get me back on track…

After climbing through the big tree, Sawyer made a beeline to the top of the crazy steps, stopping only to collect a few rocks on the way up:

Abby and I were able to see his last 20 minutes at preschool today. I saw him climb up a fairly challenging ladder to get to the slide, which is something he’s never done with me before. It’s clear that his ability and desire to explore have grown immensely since he started school. I feel like Abby and I have done well to give him the confidence, and now he has the opportunity to use it much more often than before. Awesome.

He’s growing up so fast, but he’s still my little monkey!

You can tell he gets a lot of practice on the first 14 numbers since that’s the number of steps up to our apartment. After 14, well, things kinda fall apart. Can’t blame him for trying though:

This was after running up the hill from California Street too. The playground at Alta Plaza is one of the best in the city for Sawyer, but the park itself not at all easy to get to. It’s a workout no matter which side you come from.

Needless to say, Sawyer slept well that afternoon. Come to think of it, we all did.

Scott is always trying to get Sawyer to climb trees.

Sawyer in a tree.

Kevin is the tree climbing champ in the family. In a suit, no less.

Up a tree...in a suit.

Is Sawyer upset he isn’t still up in the tree?

Sawyer's look says a lot.

We went to the zoo today and discovered that there was a playground. Scott taught Sawyer his favorite thing to do on the swings — pretend you’re Superman.

These days, Sawyer can’t decide if he needs just one nap or two. It is around this age that toddlers move to one nap a day. Somedays he can make it, others not so much. Today he just had a 20 minute nap in the car after the zoo. He had no interest in napping when we got home. He gets very loud and very crazy when he needs sleep. Get ready Ohio, he climbs non-stop!

The night before last, Sawyer decided it would be funny to push toys under the bed in his room. Then he would go fishing for them.

A new game.

A new game.

A new game.

A new game.

If it’s flat, it went under.

A new game.

Then there was this.

Climbing.

Climbing.

Climbing.

He took everything off of the shelf, so he could climb up there.

Not only is he Speedy, he’s really great at climbing up on the furniture — very quickly! Here are two videos showing Wednesday’s lunchtime antics. While I was preparing lunch, I looked up to find Sawyer sitting in the Wassily chair.

I helped him down, and he went right back to it. My favorite part is where he is standing up, looking out the window at the construction, and he steps on his car to get taller.
