Over the weekend, I went to Ikea to pick up a few things for our new apartment. On my way past the children’s section, I saw a tunnel hanging from the ceiling. Of course I had to buy it.

When I got home and showed Abby, I noticed the label said 18 months and up. I mentioned that to my mom, but she said let him have it. Later that afternoon, I did:

I let him play with it a few more times over the weekend, putting Taddy Porter at one end to entice him through, which made him laugh out loud. I’m pretty sure he crawled through on his hands and knees tonight, but didn’t have the camera close by to capture it. I’ll have it ready next time.

Yes, I took a lot of pictures the Ohio State day. He is getting so fancy with his mobility. Everyday he gets a little closer to crawling on all fours.

Under the table

I'm going over there.

I know, I'm cute.

So close to crawling.

Just a little more practice needed.

We got a little video of Sawyer and Gabrielle. Her hat is unfortunately covering her face, but she is definitely wanting to get Sawyer’s binkie.

Here is another video of Tiburon with more of our little Sawyer on the move.

Below is the first of many Sawyer movies to preview this week. His crawling may not be terribly stylish yet, but he is definitely on the move! Let the baby proofing commence.

Keeping with yesterday’s two word theme, today’s episode features Sawyer scooting all around his play area. He’s getting awfully close to crawling, as you will soon see.

I think he’s been paying attention to Abby when they go to Mom & Baby Yoga. Look at that perfect plank, almost into a downward dog:

Next, Sawyer gets distracted by his elephant friend, who is nothing more than an unfortunate victim of his incessant kicking. Once flipped around, he then gets stuck in the comforter, but still manages to play it cool:

Finally in this last clip, Sawyer very nearly crawls. He’s up on all fours, with his feet underneath his body, and he’s even rocking back and forth, but to no avail. He’s so close! It won’t be much longer:

Be sure to tune in for tomorrow’s episode, which features Abby feeding Sawyer smashed avocado for dinner. You won’t want to miss his priceless expression!

We promise to show and tell all about our trip home to Ohio very soon. Until then, please enjoy these pictures of Sawyer working on crawling. This morning he got up on all fours then did a forward belly flop. He’s getting very close. I lined up his blocks and little bugs in order to give him something to shoot for.

I was finally able to catch Sawyer doing his inchworm maneuver the other night. He was fresh out of his nightly bath, but both hungry and ready for bed, so he doesn’t last as long as usual. Still, this should give you a pretty good idea of what our days are like now — if he’s on his belly, he’s almost always trying to crawl.

btw, I’m trying out a new way to embed video. You can watch the movie on this page as you did before, or you can go to vimeo to see it in full-screen high-definition. On the vimeo page, look for the icon in the bottom right corner of the movie, and click it to turn-on full-screen.

Please let me know what you think. If you like it, I’ll do the same with all of the other movies on Sawyer’s blog.
