Grandpa Doernberg sends us this excellent video of Sawyer’s first semi-civilized meal. He loved playing with his new digger utensils from the moment his Aunt Sarah gave them to him, but now he’s actually using them to eat! Witness the magic:
Abby said he’s definitely feeling better and has his appetite back in a big way. Of course that means that he has twice his normal energy too, which is my favorite time to be with Sawyer. I am really looking forward to seeing them on Wednesday!
Sawyer has a touch of the smallest cold. It hasn’t really slowed him down at all. It has just made him leaky in the nose. He is also teething. I think his lower teeth on the sides are all coming in at the same time. There is so much drool. So, watch the videos at your own risk.
Sawyer watched his beloved diggers doing their stuff today. He even waves “Hello” to them.
He shows his dance moves a little bit.
He shows the digger his digger.
Last Tuesday after swimming, Sawyer and I played for a while at the Crissy Field beach on the bay. I saw a park officer on a horse and thought that Sawyer might like to meet them. As we got close to the horse, I realized that the officer was giving a ticket to a couple on the beach. After Sawyer and I quietly made our way back to the road next to the beach, his eye was caught by a large yellow digger. He headed right for it. My favorite moment in this video is about seven seconds in when he says “DIGGER!”
Lucky for us, after we played with the digger and followed the doggies, the officer came our way with the horse. My videos from here on down sort of miss the important moments like meeting the horse (it happened right after I turned off the camera)…
…like me getting caught in a wave when Sawyer and I get a little to close (which happened right after I turned of the camera)…
…and especially missing the moment when Sawyer got way to close to the edge, got drenched by a sneaker wave, kept walking into the water, fell face forward, and had me rescue him. We were both incredibly wet. I was surprised that the bay water was not as cold as I expected. Sawyer was surprised to be wet. What a sandy mess. This is why the video is only 17 seconds long. I had to shove it into my pocket quite quickly while I was pulling Sawyer out of the water.
