A few weeks ago Sawyer sent his Great Aunt Sally and Uncle Jack a very Happy 35th Anniversary. They are very close followers of the Sawyer blog. It made me so happy when, upon Sally’s meeting Sawyer, she felt like she already knew him.
As we live so far from our all of our family and many of our very good friends, we wanted to make sure that everyone was able to see, enjoy and sometimes hear Sawyer daily fun. In addition to this reason, we wanted Sawyer to be able to look back on his early days when he is older. (We were inspired by our friend Leslie. She and her husband started a blog for their daughter, Edie. Edie’s blog is super fun to visit as well. She is such a cutie.)
So, after visiting Sawyer’s Great Grandma Doernberg, we spent the day with Jack and Sally along with their sons, Justin and Seth. We also met Seth’s girlfriend, Brit.
Sally bought Sawyer a few amazing camo outfits, which he will wear when he is a little bigger. She also gave him a great camo hat and gloves. He just kept trying to eat his hands even with the gloves on. I just hope we can find him when he wears his camo.
Sawyer hung out with Seth and Brit too. Sawyer was very well behaved except for the erping incident with Brit. We were pretty sure that after Sawyer showed his projectile skills, Brit was going to show hers right back. Sawyer really does erp on those he loves!
Brit kept her distance for a while after the erping incident. I don’t blame her one bit. I want to do that sometimes too. The erp is kind of gross.
Sawyer also met Justin, which I will talk about in an upcoming post, but until then, here are the cousins having fun.
Great Aunt Sally and Great Uncle Jack are very loyal viewers of the Sawyer blog, and we are all so excited that they will get to meet Sawyer in person in about a week and a half! Sawyer is sending out a very “Happy Anniversary” to them today! They will have to write exactly how many years in the comments.
I’m guessing that it about 36 or 37 based on convoluted logic from my younger cousin Justin, Sally and Jack’s eldest son. Justin is 3 years younger than I am (33), and when we were kids he used to say that, “My parents were married before your parents, so if my parents would of had me a year after they were married like yours did, I would be older than you!”
I have added below a few surprises for us all to enjoy.
Sally and my Dad when they were little.
Sally in 1968 - so beautiful!
A picture from my Grandparents Doernberg’s 45th wedding anniversary in 1986. My Grandparents, Addie and Doc (Robert), are seated on the couch. Standing left to right - my cousin Justin, Jack, Sally, my Dad, me, and my cousin Seth.
Years from now Sawyer will laugh at my ‘80’s hair, as perhaps some of you are doing now, so two can play at that game. (I can blame the ‘80’s, but it was just a bad haircut and product “to help bring out the natural beauty of curly hair” hadn’t been invented yet.
