Grandma Penny and Grandpa Steve have been visiting over the past few days. While Hurricane Ike is keeping them from getting back to Ohio on time, Sawyer has been keeping everyone well entertained. When Scott was about Sawyer’s age, his Grandma Truitt bought him a little shopping cart to help him learn how to walk. The shopping cart subsequently helped his sister, Sarah, and brother, Kevin, to walk as well.
There were no shopping carts to be had for Sawyer, which is really better since Scott had an unfortunate incident with a shopping cart and his front tooth when he was in high school. We were able to find a baby walker for Sawyer at Giggle. It is amazing how fast Sawyer has taken to it. He got up on it today without help and walked across his room today.
Too bad Scott’s beloved Buckeyes couldn’t beat USC. At least Sawyer looked cute. We worry, though, because each time we dress him up in Buckeye gear, the team loses.
I’m pretty sure no one would hire me to be in a scary movie, but they might hire Sawyer.
Sawyer is pretty good at falling down and getting right back up again. No crybabies here!
Sawyer has been growing like crazy the past few weeks. All of a sudden he has outgrown a lot of his clothes that have looked, in our eyes, like they would not fit for a while. He received so many wonderful things when he was born, and even though we have tried things on him periodically, he has really surprised us by his growth.
I have tried to take pictures of all of these wonderful gifts, so the givers could see Sawyer in them. This post packs in three of those items. His hat, which was a gift from his Grandpa Bob, came with the outfit seen in the previous ode to Ohio State. The onesie was a gift from Janet, a close family friend of Grandma Penny. The jeans were a gift from Great Aunt Jenny, and the Ohio State towels and light up buggies were gifts from Grandma Penny and Grandpa Steve.
Not Levi’s, but still cute.
Sawyer is sending out a special shout out to Janet…it is not exactly a shout, more of a, well I’ll let you come up with a word for it… Janet, whenever you need a really good laugh, these two videos will do the trick!
What an amazing time the last seven months have been! I have been slowly realizing that Sawyer is quickly outgrowing all of those clothes that looked so huge when he was born. I would look at them and think that he would be at least a year old before he fit into them, but I was I wrong. One such outfit was given to him by his Grandpa Doernberg to help Sawyer celebrate Scott’s love of The Ohio State Buckeyes. The outfit provided another good reason to take more pictures of Sawyer (as if we don’t have enough already).
I have been trying to get a picture of his two little teeth to show everyone. It hasn’t been easy. He has all kinds of tricks to hiding them from the paparazzi.
First it was the block.
Then there was the tongue.
There was the “small mouth boy” face made popular by Scott over the years.
The quick getaway.
The “you are sooooo close, but sooooo far away” look.
Then, well, I’m not sure what this was. I think he was about to throw his block at the paparazzi.
Then, finally, it happened! He threw me a bone and gave in.
Not just once, but twice.
Thanks baby, you can relax now!
In actuality, I hadn’t really been trying to get the teeth at all. I found out that I had captured the elusive creatures when I looked at my images, but it made for a good story, no?
I’m learning that not everyone always reads my funny little stories which accompany the pictures. Apparently seeing his cute little face is more than enough. Well, I guess I did say in the beginning that the stories were more for Sawyer to read about in years to come. This is a warning, however. If you ask me a question, and it is fully explained within the “pages” already, I’m going to say “Read the blog.”
Love you baby! Thank you for the happiest, most sleep deprived months of our lives so far.
