After the success of the Easter egg hunt at the zoo, Abby decided to have Sawyer’s playgroup over for a hunt at our house. I left just before and came home right as it ended, so I know about as much as you do. Believe me, it was an absolute madhouse, or controlled chaos, depending on your perspective.
Abby snapped some great pictures of Sawyer opening eggs:
Asking for this ball to be juggled:
Crawling through his tunnel, for which he’s now way too big:
And ordering Abby out of his room:
It’s true, and it happened to me as he was skyping with Mema and Pepa T today. No one said this would start at 28 months!
At the end of January, the three of us made the drive across the Bay Bridge to Oakland for a “playgroup turns two” party hosted by one of the families. Sawyer wasted no time investigating all of the toys:
He really liked the train table, it was the perfect height for him:
Rockin’ the fireman’s hat backwards (that might have been my idea):
Wearing beads and playing with a puzzle:
You know he’s going to line up a few cars too:
Good looking haircut, kid:
Abby’s self-portrait:
Lightening McQueen helps him sit still for the group photo:
With his Mama and the other mommies:
I love this picture of Abby:
With his Dada:
It always seems like it should be closer than it actually is, but Oakland is really far away now, especially since we moved to the other side of San Francisco. I love going over the bridge, and I truly love seeing the city from the other side of the bay. Of course, the real highlight was seeing how much bigger, stronger, and cuter all of the kids had become.
Last week we went across the Golden Gate Bridge and through Marin for playgroup where the kids showed off their best artistic talents.
Before the painting started, Sawyer was clean.
Everyone picked their places and their colors.
Sawyer missed the fact that there were brushes available.
Ketchup and mustard.
Mixing colors.
Slowly but surely getting more covered in paint.
He was very serious the entire time.
I’m pretty sure all true artists get this involved with their art.
Start to finish, he painted and painted.
The beautiful finished product.
Sawyer went with his friends to a wonderful pumpkin patch in Half Moon Bay yesterday. I’d love to say that the hour trip getting there was uneventful, but as things go with Sawyer and our car, it wasn’t. Sawyer’s friend Madeline showed Sawyer how to open the door handles in the back seat. Sawyer, being slightly stronger than Madeline, was able to actually open the door… while I was driving! Needless to say, I have now learned how the child locks work, but I didn’t appreciate the cop who “helped” us when we stopped. He berated me for incorrectly pulling to the side. He hoped that I would be a better driver in the future… especially because I was a mother. Luckily, I kept my cool, and didn’t tell the cop with the ridiculous little mustache to go to hell.
At least the pumpkin patch was well worth the trip.
The tombstone behind Sawyer reads “Here lies Mr. D. Ceased”. That was pretty funny.
There was a train! Enough said!
Sawyer got to finally wear his wellies.
This was all Sawyer. It would make a pretty good Levi’s ad too.
Looking at the ducks.
These horses were a very big hit with Sawyer.
In the future, we will try to get a group shot closer to the beginning of the outing… not the end.
I do like that Sawyer is the “king of the pumpkin” though!
Last week Sawyer and I met some of his playgroup at the Academy of Sciences. We are definitely making the most out of our membership. After visiting the penguins and the fish, we headed over to the playroom where they had all kinds of Sawyer friendly things to play with.
He was really into the puzzles.
His one little friend, who is just slightly bigger and older than Sawyer, gives him a run for his money. Unlike some of the other babies who don’t mind Sawyer’s way of taking any toy, she stands her ground. They actually did quite well together at the puzzle table.
They pretty much have no idea of what to do with the puzzles, but I love how hard they are both concentrating.
I think it is time to get Sawyer a puzzle of his own.
This past Sunday, we hosted a birthday party for Sawyer’s playgroup. All the babies were born in December of 2007, so they have all recently turned one. Our building has a very nice club lounge that is very baby friendly. We all had a lot of fun!
Sawyer got to wear his birthday shirt again.
The little girls all play so nicely together.
The boys are bit more combative. Sawyer pretty much comes in and takes whatever anyone is playing with — his or theirs — it doesn’t matter.
Sawyer loves to climb.
The daddies.
The mommies’ turn.
What a group!
