Last week, Sawyer and I went to the grocery store. He just had dinner so I didn’t bring anything for him to munch on, and I figured we could make it in and out without his binky too, but about half way through he started fidgeting. I grabbed an apple from the cart, shined it on my shirt, and gave it to him to play with. I looked down not a minute later to find him devouring it!

I didn’t think to take pictures until we were leaving, so I snapped a couple quick ones on my phone. Here’s what eight teeth can do to an apple — note that he ate through the core too:

Yep, he’s stuffing his face. And to think we always cut up his apples into bite-sized pieces. No need to do that anymore:

He was an absolute mess, with apple chunks in his jacket, on his pants, and all over the cart, plus his hands and arms were soaked:

He wasn’t happy when I took it from him, but my dad never let us eat in his car, and there was no way I was going to let him eat that mushy mess in ours. His disappointment was short-lived, especially once we saw some buses, a digger and dump truck doing work on the street, and a fire engine on the way home. That’s the Sawyer trifecta!

He’s been there many times before, but this was the first time he sat in the cart instead of his buggy or having me wear him in a sling. He really seemed to enjoy the view. I placed a little blanket in front of him to keep him from trying to lick the handle (preemptive strategy, I could just see it coming), and my bag behind him to give a little extra support.

Brrrr, it is cold in the aisle…

…but it is still fun to be here.

So inquisitive.
